If you could change One event post 1900..?

Get Douglas Adams to a doctor sooner so his heart problems are diagnosed and he gets treatment allowing him to keep writing for much, much longer. Give Freddie Mercury a good talking to about his lifestyle and how it will kill him well before his time from a preventable disease. Have all of...

As I recall the Monopoly that Darrow made was very, very different to the successful game. It was Waddingtons version that made all the cash. Simple POD is Darrow either gave up after all the rejections, or Waddingtons never took his game and made the blockbuster version out of it.

Titulus Princeps: Bessie Blount Has A Girl

You are such a schemer Clement, I can see why you took a career in the Church. "were his master to emulate the late King Richard’s precedent and urge Parliament to allow him to name his own heir." - it might just work, and of course if the Emperor objects its the English's fault not the Pope's...

Exocet - the Effects of a different Falklands

Hummm I could see some false flag operations to terrify the public into getting onside for an Iraq operation - though I’d have thought Iran was just as much of a threat. Maybe some bombs on power facilities? A nuke plant scare? And are we looking at an invasion or an assassination?

    What if Spider-Man never existed?

Chances are the Lee/Kirby Ringman teen character hits, or they drop him and try something else, and since animal themed characters are popular perhaps they revive Gorilla-Man #9or his son inheriting the powers) or simply play about with teen characters - Turtle Boy, Dober-Man, Grizzly, etc etc...

Maybe Alfred Yankovic, lead architecture of his day, would lead a revival of Gothic and innovative use of concrete forms. Meanwhile in music the duo Barnes & Barnes continue to rock up the novelty and parody charts….

    TL: UK Overseas Regions [Redux]

Industrial modernisation could happen here just due to the changed world Britain is in - sure its not a 'Commonwealth wank' by any means at all, but without the 'special relationship' being as special, with earlier EEC membership, with French cooperation, and German competition, plus a closer...

True she did, but went about it in a confrontational way, with Mrs T less able to make her mark here, the next leader gets to deal with the shut down of the mines, unless of course the miners strike happened on queue, but with no Falklands cos her the job? British industry was otl quite sick...

Ah, but changed circumstances ITTL with Britain being slightly less screwed, and different PM, Presidents etc might mean the unions and modernisation are in a different relationship.

So Mrs T didn’t try to bring the Falklands in as part of the UK? Interesting as that what I was expecting- though perhaps with new post-war investment the Islands might consider a petition. Do any of those Pacific Island chains ask to join Australia or New Zealand instead? That would make a...

Disaster Averted (Titanic Lives) On Hiatus

I was trying to suggest that if the eastern war ends in 1916 with a deal, then the Oct revolution probably does not occur. You might still get a Feb due the economic fallout, but it’s if they have made a separate deal the Germans are not releasing Lenin as they need a stable Russia on their...

The Lusitania Disaster would make for a fast-paced Hollywood thriller..

There is a movie in Lusitania’s sinking but like the Miracle on the Hudson the sinking would only be the Mid-movie climax since it is such a short event. I think it would need to be a character action-drama rather than documentary style. Two on-off lovers being separated and lost, then reunited...

From: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/may/01/lusitania-salvage-warning-munitions-1982 So yes Lusitania was carrying munitions, no they did not explode and the second explosion was likely coal dust as Dr Ballard and many others have said.

    Pop Culture Timelines Go-To Thread

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started as a comic produced by Mirage Studios in the 80's. It was picked up and essentially remade into the 80's-90's cartoon , which of course led to movies, more cartoon remakes, movies, comics etc etc. The original creators eventually sold the rights to...

The death of Herbert Henry Asquith and the subsequent course of events: A timeline from April 1911

Bit late to the party, but here is an idea: Grey's govt shake up means the Board of Trade changes its guidence on the number of lifeboats for the tonnage of ship - it was debated in 1910/11 but was not changed OTL. This change means all ships have to carry more lifeboats - perhaps not 'lifeboats...
