A cultural/music what if here.

Lets say that before Californication came out, Antony Kiedis either overdoses, leaves for rehad, or quits for any other reason. Without a front man, what would the Red Hot Chili Peppers look like if they acquired Chris Cornell?

Think of the transition from Rage Against the Machine to Audioslave, a funk rock group that Cornell fronted. Would Californication become a much darker, grungy album?

With the Chili Peppers coming out with a new album soon, thought I would bump this thread.

On some reflection, I can see it as a combination of Down on the Upside and Audioslave's first album. Like the metal injected with Navarro's influence on One Hot Minute, but more refined and (dare I say) progressive. More curious too would be Cornells excellent guitar playing, especially on the acoustic guitar.
